Intended Uses
EWI-303 Gel Primer is designed to prepare mineral substrates before the application of subsequent finishes and coatings. It is ideal where improved adhesion and controlled suction are needed prior to applying products such as dispersion paints, finishing coats, ceramic linings, wallpapers, plasters, screeds and tile adhesives. Its versatility makes it a useful addition for both refurbishment and new-build preparation work.
Substrate Preparation
Surfaces should be load-bearing, solid, dry and clean before priming. Dust, grease, oils, paint residues and other contaminants should be removed, while weak layers and surface defects should be made good before application. Any biological growth should be treated appropriately, and all repairs should be fully dry and sound prior to priming. Good preparation helps the primer perform properly and supports a stronger, more consistent finish.
Product Preparation
EWI-303 Gel Primer is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted with water or mixed with other materials. Simply stir thoroughly before use and apply within the recommended temperature range.
Application
Apply evenly by roller, brush or spray, taking care not to over-prime the surface. Under normal conditions, the primer allows a quick turnaround before overcoating, helping speed up progress on site. Indicative waiting times are around 15 minutes for tile adhesives, 30 minutes for masonry mortars, grouts and screeds, and 60 minutes for paints, with an overall drying time of approximately 2 hours at 20°C.
Application Conditions
Apply between 3°C and 35°C. During application and drying, protect the primed surface from frost, rain, high temperatures and strong winds to help ensure proper drying and performance.
Packaging & Storage
EWI-303 Gel Primer is supplied in a 5 litre jerry can. Store in unopened original packaging in dry conditions between 5°C and 25°C, protect from frost, and use within 24 months from manufacture when stored correctly.
