EWI-750 Lime Mortar NHL 5.0 is a premixed dry mortar based on natural hydraulic lime, natural fine pozzolan and selected aggregates. Designed for both new construction and restoration work, it offers excellent adhesion, good workability and an extended open time, making it suitable for masonry work, base coats and finishing coats where a more rustic textured finish is required. Its lightly ochre pigmentation also helps promote better visual consistency in grouted exposed masonry.
Its natural hydraulic lime and pozzolanic formulation provides good durability, strong resistance to sulphates and salts, and high vapour permeability. This allows moisture to move through the wall build-up more naturally, helping reduce trapped moisture within the substrate and making it particularly well suited to breathable construction and the repair of traditional buildings.
Intended Uses
EWI-750 Lime Mortar NHL 5.0 is designed for use in new construction, restoration and bio-construction projects for both internal and external masonry applications. It is suitable for the erection of brick and block walls, laying natural stone, bedding and fixing tiles, and for use as a base coat or finishing coat where a textured lime finish is required. It is also well suited to the repair and restoration of historic buildings, where compatibility with traditional materials is important.
Why Choose EWI-750 Lime Mortar NHL 5.0?
- Suitable for both internal and external masonry applications
- Good adhesion and workability for easier application
- Extended open time to support on-site usability
- Suitable for brickwork, blockwork, natural stone and tile bedding
- Can be used as a base coat or finishing coat
- Highly vapour permeable to support breathable wall construction
- Good durability with strong resistance to sulphates and salts
- Well suited to restoration and traditional building repair
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be firm, dry and clean, and free from dust, grease, oils, salts, efflorescence, waxes, release agents, poorly adhered materials, previous coatings, biological growth and any other contamination that may affect adhesion. Before application, the substrate should be dampened with clean water to support good adhesion and curing, but it should not be saturated.
Product Preparation
Mix EWI-750 Lime Mortar NHL 5.0 with clean water only, using approximately 4 to 5 litres per bag.
- Add the powder gradually to the water
- Mix until a smooth, workable consistency is achieved
- Continue mixing for around 3 to 5 minutes
- Do not add excess water
- Use the mixed material within approximately 60 minutes
Application
EWI-750 Lime Mortar NHL 5.0 may be applied manually with a trowel or by suitable spray equipment. It is recommended to apply the mortar in coats of 4 to 15mm. Where greater thickness is required, build up in two or more coats, ideally before the previous layer has fully hardened. Finish by trowelling to achieve the required texture and appearance.
Application Conditions
Application should be carried out between +5°C and +30°C, with relative humidity below 80%. Do not apply in windy conditions. Protect freshly applied material from frost, rain and direct sunlight during application and for at least 48 hours afterwards. Significant changes in site conditions during curing may result in colour variation or an altered finish.
