    Fibreglass Mesh (165g/m²) - 50m²

This strong Fibreglass Mesh is an integral component of both render and EWI Systems. The mesh is embedded with the cement-based basecoat layer (either EWI-220 EPS Basecoat or EWI-225 Premium Basecoat)  – this ensures the final render / solid wall insulation system is both strong (to withstand impact) but also flexible so it will be able to withstand natural building movements that occur during the different seasons. The Fibreglass Mesh can also be used in areas that need additional strengthening – for example stress patches can be cut from the roll (300mm x 200mm) that are put 45 degrees to each corner of an opening. In traditional sand and cement areas, these areas are particularly likely to crack. The addition of a stress patch in these areas ensures the system will remain crack-free long into the future. When using the Fibreglass Mesh, ensure that each strip overlaps the last when embedding it within the basecoat adhesive or premium adhesive. There is a black marker printed on the mesh that indicates the overlap required. You can also ‘double-mesh’ if an area requires particular strengthening above and beyond our normal EWI / render systems. In order to do this, initially embed the mesh in vertical strips down the wall. Then embed the second layer of mesh at 90 degrees to this. In order to embed both layers of Fibreglass Mesh within the adhesive you may need to make the basecoat layer slightly thicker – e.g. 8mm instead of the recommended 6mm. The primary purpose of the Fibreglass Mesh is to be used within the basecoat layer of either render systems or EWI systems, but it can be used to bridge cracks externally/internally or for giving extra strength to floor screeds as well as plastered ceilings. The Fibreglass Mesh is coated with acrylic acid copolymer liquid, making it water, alkali and age resistant.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Fibreglass Mesh is embedded with the cement-based basecoat layer as this ensures the final render or solid wall insulation system is both strong (to withstand impact) and flexible to withstand natural building movements that occur during the different seasons.

We recommend using EWI-225 Premium Basecoat as it has a high concentration of polymer-modified binders and synthetic fibres, delivering flexibility, higher crack resistance, and improved durability. However, other basecoats, such as EWI-222P Performance Basecoat and EWI-220 EPS Basecoat Adhesive, can be used with fibreglass mesh.

Fibreglass Mesh can be used in areas that need additional strengthening to bridge cracks externally/internally or give extra strength to floor screeds and plastered ceilings.

Fibreglass Mesh is embedded into the basecoat in vertical strips using the flat edge of a notched trowel. Each vertical strip of fibreglass mesh should overlap its neighbouring vertical strip by approximately 10-15cm.

Fibreglass Mesh is an integral component of render-only and external wall insulation systems. It allows the system to withstand impacts and natural building movements, reducing the risk of damage and hairline cracks.

Worst mesh ive evrr used! Late damaged roll left in the rain. This thin scrim shrddded every time i cut stress patches and it gave me a nasty rahs. It fails at its KNLY job too—fine cracks already showing afger just one week! Don't risk your job on this awful stuff.

OK mesh, does the job. A proper faff to embed and it drinks the adhesive. White colour and thin feeling mean it isn't worth the pounds 46.50.

Absolute joke. This stuff appears far too thin for 165g/m². The weight is wrong, mate. My installer refused to keep putting it in the basecoat because it ripped like tissue paper. Total waste of money and time. Buy it from a merchant who stocks actual 165-gram scrim.

Super strong mesh. Embedded straight into EWI-220 without tearing even on the 45-degree patches. Black marker line is sound, saves measuring.

Bedding it in was okay but its strength felt average compared to other 160g mesh on the market makes this cost a bit over the top for what you actually get.

Awful. Sales bloke was clueless on the phone. Specifically asked about double-meshing stress patches; he said not needed. Next thing you know fine cracks all over the corner areas. Its cost me three hours labor just grinding that basecoat back for rework. Total amateur guidance. If i took their advice this job would have failed. Never buying this highly-priced mesh or getting advice from these chaps again.

Chnuky 165g mesh, proper strength for the basecoat. Patches look sorted. It lays flat easy. Marker line for overlaps is way too faint, lost time checking it near knock-off. Paying extra for the EWI Pro coating peace of mind, but time'll tell if that long-term flexibility warrants the premium over a cheaper 165 rival.

Proper Job Mesh. Good gear this. Used it on the EWI job for the whole wall and stress patches. Never tore or frayed once when bedding it into the basecoat. Laid flat easy. That saved a lot of grief and kept the work going fast. Sorted.
