EWI-008 Bitumen Paint is a ready-to-use bitumen-rubber waterproofing coating designed for external waterproofing applications and general maintenance works. It is suitable for creating seamless waterproof layers on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, making it a practical choice for roofing renovation, roofing maintenance and damp-proofing applications. Its thixotropic formulation is easy to apply and can also be used in areas where direct contact with EPS insulation may occur.
Intended Uses
EWI-008 Bitumen Paint is intended for waterproofing outside buildings, particularly for the renovation and maintenance of roofing. It is also suitable for forming seamless waterproofing layers on vertical and horizontal surfaces, including foundation waterproofing and similar below-ground applications. In addition, it may be used for waterproofing in rooms on suitable substrates such as concrete, cement-lime plaster, gypsum substrates and screeds, including screeds with underfloor heating.
Why Choose EWI-008 Bitumen Paint?
- Ready-to-use waterproofing coating for straightforward application
- Suitable for roofing renovation and roofing maintenance
- Forms seamless waterproof layers on vertical and horizontal surfaces
- Suitable for foundation waterproofing and other below-ground applications
- Can be used on suitable internal substrates for waterproofing
- Thixotropic formulation for easier application
- Can be used in areas where direct contact with EPS insulation may occur
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be load-bearing, sound, tight and thoroughly clean before application. On concrete and plaster backgrounds, the cement setting process must be complete before work begins. Concrete, ceramic and plastered surfaces should be primed beforehand using EWI-008 Bitumen Paint diluted 1:1 with clean water. When applying over existing roofing felt, all loose fragments and contaminants must be removed, and any bubbles or swelling should be cut crosswise and secured before coating.
Product Preparation
EWI-008 Bitumen Paint is supplied ready to use and should be mixed thoroughly immediately before application. Where the product is being used as a primer, it should be diluted with clean water at a ratio of 1:1. Once diluted, it should not be stored in solution form.
Application
Apply the product cold using a roofing brush, brush or suitable spray equipment. Depending on the intended use and required protection level, apply 2 to 3 coats, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. For roofing renovation and maintenance, apply at least 2 coats to a correctly prepared substrate. For foundation damp-proofing and waterproofing, apply 2 to 3 coats to the primed surface depending on the anticipated water load. The coating may also be applied to slightly damp substrates, although this may increase drying time.
Application Conditions
Apply when the air, substrate and product temperatures are between +5°C and +25°C. Do not apply during rainfall. Under standard conditions, drying time for a single coat is approximately 6 hours, after which the coating becomes water resistant.
