    EWI-310 Universal Primer

EWI-310 Universal Primer is used to prepare the walls before the application of our adhesives. It improves adhesion of the adhesive to the substrate, facilitating application and reducing groundwork absorbency. The presence of quartz aggregate in the primer creates a strong textured surface onto which the adhesive layer can bind easily. EWI-310 dries red on the wall, helping the user to see where the primer has been used.

    Universal Primer Technical Specifications

    • Composition: Water-based acrylic polymer dispersions, refining agents, quartz aggregate, pigments and water
    • pH: approx. 7

    Universal Primer Application Conditions

    • Application temperature (air, substrate, materials): from +5°C to +25°C
    • Consumption: approx. 0.25 to 0.35kg/m2
    • Coat drying time: 12 hours
    • Colour: red & textured when dry (texture due to presence of quartz aggregate)

    Application

Substrate Preparation: Prior to priming, remove any loose elements and fragments of low-strength substrate. The substrate should be cleaned to make it free from all substances that may affect adhesion, i.e. dust, oil, grease, anti-adhesive agents, remaining paint, mould, algae, moss, etc. The substrate should be free of cracks and efflorescence, and uniformly dry. All contamination resulting from grease, oil, anti-adhesive agents should be cleaned by washing with water containing detergent. Biological contamination should be eliminated , and then cleaned by mechanical action. Scratched and cracked surfaces should be repaired with levelling mortar or another mortar suitable for the substrate. Mortar applied to repaired sites should be dry and well-bonded. Surfaces that will not be primed should be protected prior to priming. Product preparation: Mix the product vigorously before use. EWI- 310 is a ready-to-use emulsion. Application: For best effects, do not add water and apply using a brush or roller. Weak substrates that need to be strengthened and highly absorptive substrates should re-primed after about 4 hours. Dispersion paints, surface finish products or adhesives should be applied after at least 24h after priming. Works must not be carried during rain or snow, strong winds and in direct sunlight, without special protection to limit exposure to weather conditions. Recently rendered coats must be protected against rain, frost and over-rapid drying.

I wasn’t sure if primer would make a big difference, but this one really does. It improved adhesion and stopped the surface from soaking up too much product. Excellent quality.

Brill! Gave the wall a cracking key (quartz works a treat), and the red shows up gaps immediately. Saved the faff of mixing powder, just rolled it on. Only dropped a star 'cause I found the coverage felt tight on the old, rough render patches, so consumed a bit more product than the sheet suggested. Also, wash up claims water, but that red stain really sticks to overalls, needed scrubbing! Solid prep coat, definitely recommended for the bond.

Proper Keying Surface & Absolute Lifesaver on Site. Sorted. Chuffed with this Universal Primer. Honestly, the quartz grit gives such a proper key for the adhesive, meant it went on easily and firm. Red colour is brill too can't miss a spot makes the covegrage crystal clear. Was ready to use just a quick stir. Zero fuss. Delivery driver was spot on got the heavy tubs right where I needed them. Also the customer support helped me nail the prep specs before ordering perfect service no messing about.

Does the job, but took its time. Decent primer this. The adhesion is spot on when using it before the adhesive – exactly what you want from it.But a couple of things stop it from being 5 stars. Firstly, found that on a slightly more absorbent block wall, it just absolutely soaked the primer up (used a fair bit more than the consumption guide said), and even had to wait for an extra coat in one spot, which ruined the day’s schedule a bit. Also, the main coat drying time definitely felt longer than 12 hours – couldn't properly get onto the next layer until the morning after, making it a right **palaver**. Even though it’s ‘ready-to-use,’ you need a good solid stir/mix, too. Also, the texture from the aggregate felt a bit rougher than I needed for the finish I was going for. Still good quality, gives a solid texture, and the red colour makes sense for coverage check. Maybe a tad expensive for the volume. **Solid kit overall.**
