Fine Finish Lime Plaster – Internal / External (EWI-749) – 20kg
EWI-749 Lime Plaster is a premixed mortar in powder form based on natural aerial lime as a binder, natural pozzolana, optimised aggregate curve to obtain a fine and shrinkage-free finish, selected additives which give it a longer working time, better workability, better adhesion, and water repellence. It provides a very natural decorative finish, waterproof, with a great aesthetic quality of the building: on facades and interior walls.
Lime plaster is an excellent historical binder to produce lime-based mortars and stuccos, with the aim of achieving a smooth finish that can be used internally or externally. It is also breathable, porous, and permeable to water vapour, which generates a building envelope that prevents the accumulation of humidity in the interior of the rooms, thus improving the habitability of the building, the health and safety conditions (by reducing the risk of condensation) and allows for natural renewal of indoor air, increasing comfort inside the home.
Intended Uses
Lime Plaster is the ideal solution for interior and exterior refurbishment, to perpetuate the durability of buildings of historical and artistic value (Restoration of Historical Heritage).
Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be firm, dry, and clean: free of badly adhered parts, previous applications of grouts, water repellents, release agents or waxes, rust, oils, grease, dust, efflorescence, vegetation, micro-organisms (mould or verdigris), pollution residues, building site material or
any element that may impair the adhesion of the product to the substrate. For this reason, clean the substrate carefully and thoroughly. Removing the remains of previous applications in bad conditions.
Never coat plaster, wood, or external insulation substrates. It is essential to dampen, but not to flood, the substrates beforehand with non-pressurised water beforehand to ensure good adhesion.
Product Preparation
Knead mechanically or manually by pouring water into a container and gradually adding the mixture until a homogeneous, lump-free mortar is obtained, for 3-5 minutes. Resting time 3-5 min. Do not re-mix or add water to reactivate it.
Application
The function of the material is strictly decorative, so do not apply directly on the substrate (brick, concrete block etc). It must be applied on a base of hydraulic lime mortar or a breathable rendering that provides the technical performance of the facing.
It is not recommended to apply on horizontal or inclined surfaces, exposed to the direct action of rainwater. Nor on waterproof substrates.
Spread the mixture with the help of a stainless-steel trowel to a thickness of 3 to 4 mm, according to the desired finish.
If a glossy finish is desired, it should be burnished with the centre of the trowel, smoothing it repeatedly, until a polished texture is achieved.
Prevent water run-off on the façade with the construction elements designed for this purpose.

This product comes in powder form in a 20kg paper bag.
