EWI-095 Dash Receiver is a cement-based, polymer-modified dash receiving mortar designed for use within EWI Pro external wall insulation systems. It provides a strong, durable receiving coat for dry dash and pebble dash finishes, helping create a traditional textured appearance with the added benefit of reliable adhesion, improved weather resistance and long-term external performance. Factory blended for consistency, it supports efficient application on site and a dependable decorative finish as part of a specified system.
Intended Uses
EWI-095 Dash Receiver is intended for use as the receiving coat for dry dash and pebble dash finishes over prepared reinforced basecoat layers in EWI Pro systems. It is designed for external wall insulation façades where a traditional dashed finish is required, but where the performance of a modern polymer-modified material is also needed. The product is suitable for use on new-build, refurbishment and retrofit projects where strong adhesion, durability and resistance to the elements are important. It should be used as part of an approved system build-up rather than as a standalone render.
Key Benefits
- Designed for dry dash and pebble dash finishes
- Polymer modified for improved adhesion and durability
- Helps deliver a robust, weather-resistant external finish
- Provides a reliable receiving coat for traditional textured façades
- Factory blended for consistent quality and easier mixing on site
- Suitable for use within approved EWI Pro system build-ups
Substrate Preparation
The system background must be correctly installed and prepared before applying EWI-095 Dash Receiver. Insulation boards should be securely fixed, level and in accordance with EWI Pro system requirements, with a suitable reinforced basecoat already applied. The surface must be clean, sound and free from dust, grease, laitance and other contaminants that may affect adhesion. Any uneven or damaged areas should be made good before application begins. Do not apply during rain, frost, strong winds or in temperatures below +5°C or above +25°C.
Product Preparation
Mix each 25kg bag with approximately 5.8 litres of clean water, adjusting only slightly if needed to achieve a stiff but workable consistency. Use a forced-action mixer or a slow-speed paddle mixer and blend thoroughly for around 3 to 5 minutes until the material is uniform. Allow the mix to stand briefly, then re-mix before use. Do not add extra cement, aggregates or admixtures, and do not re-temper once the material has started to set.
Application
Apply EWI-095 Dash Receiver evenly over the prepared reinforced basecoat using a steel trowel or suitable spray equipment. The packaging indicates a typical application thickness of 6-10mm, depending on the aggregate size and the required finish. While the material remains wet, the chosen dry dash aggregate should be thrown onto the surface to ensure good embedment into the receiving coat. Work continuously and maintain a wet edge wherever possible to avoid visible joints and achieve a more consistent finish. Once applied, protect the surface from rapid drying, direct sunlight, frost, rain and other adverse weather during curing.
Storage
Store unopened bags in dry conditions, off the ground and in a well-ventilated area. Protect from moisture and extremes of temperature. When stored correctly, the packaging states a shelf life of up to 12 months from the date of manufacture.
