Warehouse Operator (Birmingham)

Purpose

The main purpose of the job role is to efficiently and accurately receive, process, store and ship products or materials within a warehouse.

You will be responsible for receiving and unloading incoming shipments or deliveries, picking and packing orders, shipping and loading outgoing shipment or deliveries, manage inventories and equipment maintenance.

Overall, the role of a warehouse Packer/ operator is critical in ensuring that the warehouse runs smoothly, and that products or materials are handles and shipped efficiently and accurately.

There will also be support cover at the front desk as well helping/placing orders clients, resupply stock as well as stock count.

Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities

  • Receiving and unloading incoming shipments: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for receiving and unloading incoming shipments from suppliers or carriers. This involves verifying the contents of the shipment, checking for damage or defects, and signing for delivery.
  • Picking and packing orders: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for picking and packing customer orders. This involves locating the correct items in the warehouse, verifying the quantity and quality, and packing them securely for shipment.
  • Shipping and loading outgoing shipments: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for preparing outgoing shipments for delivery. This involves labelling packages, completing paperwork, and loading them onto delivery trucks or other transportation vehicles.
  • Inventory management: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking inventory levels, and reporting any discrepancies or issues.
  • Equipment maintenance: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for maintaining warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery. This includes performing routine maintenance and reporting any issues or malfunctions.
  • Safety and security: Warehouse packers and operators are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure working environment. This includes following safety procedures, reporting safety hazards or incidents, and monitoring the warehouse for unauthorised access or theft.
  • Customer Service: Prioritise customers service and be a point of contact for customer queries when they come to the shop for collection.
  • Support the mixing team in preparing renders and paints using warehouse machinery.
  • Work Hours Flexibility: Our branches are open from 7am till 6pm and the warehouse packers / operator have to work in shift pattern in accordance with the business needs.
  • Front desk (Reception) Cover on busy days as well as on Saturday’s.

Other Duties

  • Ensuring Health and Safety legislation is adhered to at all times
  • Effective management of stock in line with Company expectations and customer needs
  • Any other reasonable request from the Manager or Director
  • Maintain procedures that will uphold the security of the Branch and Company stock

Day-to-Day Operation of the Branch

  • Adhere to all Company Policy & procedures at all times in line with
  • Carry out any reasonable additional duties as outlined by your line manager

You will need to build strong working relationships with the following stakeholders:

  • Central/Head Office Team, Regional Business Development Team & Logistic Head and support service contacts
  • Third party supplier representatives
  • The warehouse colleagues/ mixers/ customer/ builder’s/ developers or any end user
