Read on to find out more about choosing the perfect silicone render for your project!

What is Silicone Render?

Before we discuss each individual silicone product, it is worth exploring the term and what it actually
is.

Silicone render is a modern type of thin-coat render that is comprised of large polymer molecules. It
is extremely durable and long-lasting, delivering an attractive and sleek finish when applied to the exterior of your property.

At EWI Store, our range of 4 thin-coat renders ensure that the exterior of your property retains a long-lasting finish for years to come.

The main features of this type of render are that it is breathable, flexible, and hydrophobic. However, each product in our silicone render range is best suited to different project types and possesses different unique characteristics.

The remainder of this blog will discuss Silicone Render’s key properties, we will then explore each of the individual product’s unique features in more detail.

Advantages of Silicone Render

If you’re wondering how to choose the perfect silicone render for your project, it is worth exploring the advantages of silicone render first! When rendering your property, there are several key advantages to opting for a silicone-based render over other available options on the market. We will outline these key features below.

1) Breathable: This means that any trapped water within the walls can escape into the external environment. In turn, this reduces the risk of water build-up within the fabric.
2) Flexible: Flexibility means the render has a greater resistance to expansion and contraction within the building structure from changing temperatures. A highly flexible render means it is also less prone to cracking.
3) Hydrophobic: This means that silicone render is highly water repellent. Water droplets form beads on the surface and simply rolls off the wall without penetrating it. This ensures the wall has self-cleaning properties to maintain its fresh appearance for longer.

EWI-077 Nano Drex

If you’re wondering what the best silicone render is, then you will be interested to learn about the Nano Drex Silicone Render. We consider Nano Drex Silicone Render to be the perfect silicone render. This might seem like a bold claim, but this product is part of our most advanced range of external wall insulation products – the Nano Drex range.

The Nano-Drex Silicone Render is our most flexible, breathable and hydrophobic Silicone Render on offer. It therefore creates the most advanced and unmatched protective layer for your property’s external walls.

When combined with the other products in the Nano Drex range, such as Nano Drex protect and Nano Drex Silicone Paint, you can expect the longest-lasting finish available on the market.

EWI-076 Premium Bio

The second silicone render product in our silicone render range is the EWI-076 Premium Bio Silicone Render. This product is one of our bestselling silicone-based coloured renders for several reasons.

Much like the Nano Drex Silicone Render, the Premium Bio Silicone Render is also breathable, flexible, and hydrophobic. However, the unique selling point of this render is that it is designed specifically to combat organic growth on the surface of your external walls.

For example, our Premium Bio Render is vapour permeable and thus limits the chance of algae occurring on the surface of the external wall. This way, you can achieve a longer-lasting finish with limited discolouration and decay.

What’s more, this render comes in several grain sizes, so you can choose the most suitable finish for your property’s exterior.

We recommend using Premium Bio alongside our specified basecoats and primers, such as the EWI-333 TopCoat Primer. Together, you can expect a quality adhesion layer between the render and
basecoat.

Silicone Render

The third product in our range is our flagship and most popular render – the EWI-075. As with the previously mentioned Nano-Drex and Premium Bio, this thin-coat render has breathable, hydrophobic, and flexible properties.

A true customer-favourite, this product is a cost-effective way to weatherproof your property’s walls.

So, if you’re looking for a low-maintenance render solution that you can trust and you can tint to any colour you wish, we recommend this product. You can also purchase render samples from our store to test various colourways before deciding.

Combined with application onto one of our basecoats and our selection of primers, this product will deliver a long-lasting solution for your property.

Silicone Silicate Render

Finally, our Silicone Silicate render is our most affordable through-coloured topcoat render. This product’s defining feature is that it is especially effective when used as the final step in the EWI system process. You can also use it as a standalone topcoat render alongside a basecoat reinforcement layer.

Another plus with this product is that it is available in hundreds of colourways and grain sizes. This means that you can colour match it to your render colour.
