EWI-252 Repair Render is a high-elasticity, fibre-reinforced repair render designed for external use over insulating render coats. Used as a protective and refining layer before the final finish, it provides a durable, flexible coat that helps improve crack resistance, surface uniformity and long-term performance. It can also be used within render-only systems where a repair or levelling layer is needed, making it a practical option for both full façade preparation and more localised repair work.
Intended Uses
EWI-252 Repair Render is intended for application over EWI-251 Insulating Render Coat, as well as within render-only systems, where a levelling, refining or repair layer is required before finishing. It is suitable for smoothing surface irregularities, filling local defects, refining façade surfaces and carrying out patch repairs on suitable prepared backgrounds.
Why Choose EWI-252 Repair Render?
- High-elasticity, fibre-reinforced formulation
- Designed to refine and level surfaces before the final finish
- Helps improve crack resistance and surface uniformity
- Suitable over EWI-251 Insulating Render Coat
- Can also be used within render-only systems
- Suitable for patch repairs, local defect filling and façade refinement
- Durable and flexible for long-term external performance
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be sound, stable and clean before application. Dust, grease, loose material and other contaminants that may affect adhesion should be removed. Any weak or damaged areas must be repaired before work begins. Prime according to the substrate. Use EWI-301 Water Based Substrate Primer or EWI-302 Deep Penetrating Primer on absorbent backgrounds as appropriate. Low-suction surfaces may require a suitable bonding primer. Masonry or cementitious backgrounds should be lightly dampened where required before application.
Product Preparation
Gradually add the dry mix to approximately 6.5 litres of clean, cool water per 25kg, mixing manually or with a low-speed mechanical mixer until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is achieved.
- Allow the material to stand for 5 minutes
- Remix thoroughly before use
- Where part units are used, blend the dry contents first
- Do not remix material that has started to set or hardened product
Application
Apply EWI-252 Repair Render by hawk and trowel in thicknesses from 3mm to 20mm. Spread the material evenly, then rule off and smooth as needed depending on the intended finish. On larger areas, excess material should be removed to achieve a flat, even surface. When used as a levelling coat, it should be left open rather than overworked. For finer finishing, the surface can be closed up with a sponge or felt float once the material has tightened sufficiently.
Application Conditions
Application should be carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. During application and drying, the work should be protected from frost, rain, strong wind, direct sun and rapid drying. Protective sheeting should be used where conditions are unfavourable.
