Intended Uses

EWI-002 Silicate Paint is designed for use on mineral backgrounds such as lime-cement render, concrete and mineral plaster, and is also suitable for external wall insulation systems. Because it is highly breathable, it is particularly useful on buildings where moisture management is important, including older properties and heritage-style projects. It can be used internally or externally wherever a tough, attractive mineral paint finish is required.

Substrate Preparation

All surfaces should be clean, dry and stable before painting. Dust, dirt, oil, mould and algae should be removed, and any cracks or damaged areas repaired before application. Once prepared, the surface should be primed with EWI-333 Topcoat Primer to help control absorption and improve adhesion. Good preparation helps ensure a more even finish and better long-term performance.

Product Preparation

EWI-002 Silicate Paint is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted with water or mixed with other products. Stir well before application and check the colour before starting work.

Application

EWI-002 Silicate Paint can be applied by brush, roller or spray machine. For the best finish, apply evenly and continuously to avoid visible overlaps, and always use paint from the same batch on a single wall or elevation to maintain colour consistency. Leave at least 12 hours between coats.

Application Conditions

Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 5°C and 25°C. Avoid painting in direct sunlight, strong wind, rain or frost, as these conditions can affect the final finish and drying performance.
