Intended Uses
PRO-580 Drywall Adhesive is designed for fixing plasterboards and insulated plasterboards to properly prepared internal wall substrates, including masonry, concrete and existing plastered backgrounds. It is particularly suited to drylining projects where a simple and dependable adhesive fixing method is required.
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be clean, dry, firm and free from dust, loose material and anything that may affect adhesion. Biological growth should be removed before application and any exposed metal elements must be suitably protected.
Suitable backgrounds should be primed with PRO-313 Internal Grit Primer before the adhesive is applied. Painted surfaces must be thoroughly abraded, cleaned and primed to provide a suitable background for adhesion.
Product Preparation
Gradually add the dry powder to approximately 10.5 litres of clean, cool water per 20kg bag. Mix by hand or using a low-speed mechanical mixer until a smooth, homogeneous and lump-free consistency is achieved.
Allow the mixed material to stand for approximately 5 minutes, then remix before use. The amount of water may be adjusted slightly to suit site conditions, but material that has started to set must not be reworked, remixed or diluted with additional water.
Application
Apply PRO-580 Drywall Adhesive to the back of the plasterboard or insulated plasterboard in dabs. The dabs should be spaced at approximately 400mm vertically and 250mm horizontally.
Offer the board into position, then align and level it within approximately 45 minutes of mixing. The board should be positioned and adjusted while the adhesive remains workable. Do not mix more material than can be applied within the available working time.
The recommended application thickness is between 5mm and 15mm.
Application Conditions
Application should only be carried out when the air, substrate and material temperatures are between 5°C and 25°C. Do not apply to unstable, contaminated or damp backgrounds or in unsuitable site conditions.
During setting, the adhesive should be protected from conditions that could negatively affect adhesion, curing or final performance.
