EWI-065 One Coat Dash Cover (OCDC)

Do you live in a pebbledash property? Bored of it looking tired and dated? Can’t afford to remove the pebbledash? Our One Coat Dash Cover (OCDC) is the perfect solution to cover up old pebbledash and give your property a modern look.

OCDC is a breathable, lightweight and flexible solution to covering over pebbledash. OCDC can be applied up to 8-10mm thick in one pass and once dry provides a perfectly flat surface ready to render or paint. This product has a high air content and excellent tensile strength, providing a stable and durable base while allowing trapped moisture within the underlying pebbledash to escape. The finished result is a completely transformed and updated property!

Preparation

The One Coat Dash Cover comes as a dry mix in 25kg bags. Mixed with 6.3 litres of clean potable water using an electric paddle mix. Then, mix the basecoat is mixed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the required consistency. OCDC is then ready for use. When hardened, the product should not be re-mixed with fresh material.

Application

Before application, ensure that the pebbledash substrate is stable. Any loose pebbles should be removed, and the pebbledash should be primed using EWI-310 Universal Primer.

The OCDC can be applied up to 8-10mm thick in one pass, up to a maximum thickness of 50mm if applying more than one pass. If applying multiple passes than the contact area must be damp and scratched to enable adequate bonding. Apply the basecoat to the substrate using a plastering trowel or spray machine, and a Fibreglass Mesh should be embedded within it. We recommend the use of our Orange Fibreglass Mesh for thick-coat plasters and renders. OCDC can be applied in either a single pass or multiple layers, depending on how much is required to cover over the pebbledash.

Once set, you can choose to apply either paint or render finish! If the surface is painted and it is being used to cover existing render, then it must be fibreglass meshed and pinned through to the substrate.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1.       How thick can I apply OCDC to my pebble dashed property?

One Coat Dash Cover can be applied up to 50mm thick (up to 8-10mm in one pass if machine applied) and, once dry, provides a perfectly flat surface ready to render or paint over.

  1.       How much water do I need to mix with OCDC?

You should mix approximately 6.3 litres of water per 25kg bag of OCDC. There is a usability time after mixing with water of approximately 2 hours at a temperature of +20°C.

  1.       Can OCDC be applied using a spray machine?

Yes, OCDC can be applied using a spray machine, but it must be pre-mixed before being poured into the Euromair DropPro 8P.

  1.       What do I do after the OCDC has dried?

Once the OCDC has completely dried, you can prime the surface using EWI-333 Top Coat Primer and apply Silicone Render or Silicone Paint. If the surface is painted and it is being used to cover existing render, then it must be fibreglass meshed and pinned through to the substrate.

  1.       Do I need to prime the surface before using OCDC?

Before the application of OCDC, you must prime the pebbledash. This ensures your OCDC system will last. In this instance, we highly recommend you use the EWI-310 Universal Primer. This creates a suitably abrasive surface for the One Coat Dash Cover to adhere to.

Before priming, remove all loose elements from the surface and check for structural stability if painted.

  1. Lawrence Conrad

Flows really well and sets in a good time. Very reasonably priced also

  2. Sam Christie

This stuff is awesome. Bought a house in April with pebbledash and both me and the wife thought it look really dated, but covered it in the OCDC and although a bit tricky to get it dead flat (had to do it in two coats), once all dried it looked the business. We then painted this and the house looks brand new. Would definately recommend

  3. Sara Dreher

SO impressed. Thought I was going to have to get the pebbledash removed, but was relieved to find this product. Will definitely recommend to others.

  4. S Smith

Worked well, but needed more bags than advertised to get it flat so turned out more expensive than we would of liked.

  5. Jamie

I bought this to cover our pebbledash garage to ensure our toddler didn’t tear her face off as she ran past it. It was easy enough to mix and apply. The site says 5L of water per 25kg bag, but the bag itself says 6.1L per bag. When mixing I’d say add the majority of OCDC but keep some back in case you make it too wet. I mixed half a bag each time. I’d also say lay it on thick if going over pebbledash so when you trowel over it doesn’t catch the stones so often. 4 1/2 bags covered about 17sqm so coverage is slightly less than advertised, good job I bought a spare bag. Postage is a bit steep at £25 too.
