EWI-705 Lime Paint is a breathable, lime-based decorative coating designed to complete fully lime-based systems from substrate to finish. Formulated from natural limestone, it works seamlessly with lime renders and plasters, allowing walls to manage moisture naturally while providing long-lasting protection and colour.
Unlike modern film-forming paints, Lime Paint bonds chemically with the substrate, creating a soft, mineral finish that ages gracefully over time. Highly alkaline and naturally antibacterial and antifungal, it helps maintain healthier internal and external environments while delivering a timeless, heritage-friendly appearance.
Available in a range of preset colours, as well as thousands of bespoke options, EWI-705 offers exceptional design flexibility without compromising breathability or system performance.
Intended Uses
EWI-705 Lime Paint is suitable for both internal and external decorative applications, particularly where vapour permeability and traditional aesthetics are required.
It is ideal for:
- Lime renders and lime plasters
- Heritage and conservation projects
- Bio-construction and breathable building systems
- Internal walls requiring healthy moisture regulation
- External façades where a mineral, breathable finish is specified
It is compatible with both traditional and modern construction methods, adopting a harmonious chemical, structural and mechanical behaviour with surrounding materials.
Key Benefits

Compatible Products
EWI-705 Lime Paint is designed to be used as part of a breathable lime finishing system.
EWI-707 Lime Wash
Lime Wash can be mixed with Lime Paint to create a prestigious, customised finish, allowing contractors and specifiers to achieve added protection alongside an elegant, heritage-friendly appearance. This combination maintains full breathability while offering greater creative control over colour and texture.
EWI-705 should be applied only to compatible lime-based substrates, ensuring vapour permeability is maintained throughout the system.
Substrate Preparation
Substrates must be firm, clean and dry, free from dust, grease, oils, salts, efflorescence, biological growth or residues that could impair adhesion.
Avoid chemical cleaning agents where possible. If chemical treatments have been used, rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry fully before application.
Lime Paint should be applied only to compatible, breathable mineral substrates, such as lime renders or lime plasters.
Product Preparation
EWI-705 Lime Paint is supplied ready to use.
- Stir thoroughly at low speed before application
- Ensure the product is fully homogeneous
- Do not over-agitate, as this may introduce air into the paint
Application
Apply EWI-705 using a brush, roller or airless spray unit.
- Apply by loading the surface rather than spreading thinly
- A minimum of two coats is recommended
- Typical coverage: 3-4 m² per litre per coat
- Allow adequate drying time between coats
The final appearance will vary depending on application method, substrate texture and absorbency, contributing to the natural character of the finish.
