EWI-221 Winter Adhesive can be used within the reinforcement layer and also for mounting EPS boards on to substrate. This can be carried out even when the temperature is zero degrees. It comes as a dry mix and, when mixed with water, forms an adhesive putty. Once set firm and hard, it has excellent water and frost resistance and unsurpassed adhesive properties in colder weather.
EWI-221 Winter Adhesive can be used both within the reinforcement layer and for mounting EPS insulation boards to substrates much like EWI-220. What makes it different is that it can be used during the colder winter months; EWI-221 can be used in temperatures as low as 0oc.
EWI-221 Winter Adhesive is a modified cementitious powder requiring the site addition of potable water to produce a high performance winter base coat perfect for installing when it is cold. The presence of microfibres in the winter adhesive means that it will still set in a timely fashion even at low temperatures. This means continuous work flow when conditions would normally prevent it.
EWI-221 Winter Adhesive comes in a 25kg bag and requires 6.3 litres of clean water adding to it prior to application. Depending on the thickness of EPS basecoat applied to the underlying substrate, one 25kg of EWI-221 should cover approximately 4m2.
The product is designed for preparing the reinforcement layer within the EWI pro solid wall insulation (EPS) and render systems. It can also be used as an alternative to EWI-210 EPS adhesive for fixing foamed polystyrene panels to substrates in interior and exterior uses. Suitable substrate types for insulation panels: ordinary concrete, walls of ceramic and silicate elements, concrete, light-aggregate and cellular concrete with untreated surface, plastered, painted or textured. EWI-221 should not be used for fixing extruded polystyrene (XPS) and thermal insulation on bituminous substrates.
