  • Preparation layer for substrates with high salt content
  • Machine or manual application
  • Highly breathable
  • Ideal for heritage restoration projects

The Heritage Lime NaCl is a cement-free, breathable basecoat/preparation layer intended for use on substrates with high salt levels. Due to the presence of lime within the mixture, EWI-293 has unparalleled vapour permeability which makes it perfect for renovation or restoration projects on older properties with existing signs of limebloom. The basecoat works to retain and absorb crystalline salts, preventing them from moving through to the external surface and becoming visible.

Preparation

The Heritage Lime NaCl comes as a dry mix in 25kg bags. The bag needs to be mixed with 5 litres of clean potable water using an electric paddle mix. It is recommended the render is mixed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the required consistency. Heritage Lime Render is then ready for use. When hardened, the product should not be re-mixed with fresh material.

Application

The Heritage Lime NaCl should be applied using a spray machine or trowel at a thickness of 10-20mm. If the substrate is very uneven, then we recommend applying the Heritage Lime Basecoat on top of the Lime NaCl to achieve a smooth surface prior to rendering.

Application Conditions

  • Substrate primer: EWI-291 if a key is required, or EWI-301.
  • Application temperature (air, substrate, materials): from +5°C to +25°C
  • Water mix proportions: approx. 5 litres of water per 25 kg of dry mix
  • Time of usability after mixing with water: approx. 2 hours (temp. +20°C)
