The Heritage Lime Basecoat is intended for use as a basecoat layer on substrates with a low or medium salt content. The Heritage Lime Basecoat is fantastic for use as part of a breathable render-only system and works effectively when used in conjunction with our Heritage Lime Render. Because of the presence of lime within the basecoat it has a high porosity which allows for vapour permeability. The Heritage Lime Basecoat comes in 25kgs and is the perfect basecoat for restoration and renovation projects, where breathability is key for maintaining structural stability.
EWI-292 Heritage Lime Basecoat comes as a dry mix in 25kg bags. The bag needs to be mixed with 6.5 litres of clean potable water using an electric paddle mix. It is recommended the adhesive is mixed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the required consistency. Heritage Lime Basecoat is then ready for use. When hardened, the product should not be re-mixed with fresh material.
The Heritage Lime Basecoat should be applied using a spray machine or trowel at a thickness of 10-20mm. A Fibreglass Mesh can be embedded within the basecoat to enhance the crack-resistance of the render system. If applying the Heritage Lime Render directly onto the basecoat, the basecoat needs to be scratched to provide a key for the render to adhere to.
