The Heritage Lime Harling is intended for creating a breathable ‘harl’ coat. The Lime Harling creates a roughcast effect, providing a mechanical key for further materials i.e. Heritage Lime Render and Heritage Lime Basecoat to bind to. Because of the presence of lime within the Lime Harling, its vapour permeability is second to none. Lime is also a natural resource, therefore offering an aspect of environmental friendliness. The Heritage Lime Harling is intended for use as part of renovation and restoration works on older buildings with a high salt content.
The Heritage Lime Harling comes as a dry mix in 25kg bags. The bag needs to be mixed with 4 litres of clean potable water using an electric paddle mix. It is recommended the render is mixed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the required consistency. Heritage Lime Harling is then ready for use. When hardened, the product should not be re-mixed with fresh material.
Before application, ensure that the substrate is clean and free of dust, debris and paints. The Heritage Lime Harling can be spray applied or applied by hand to achieve a thickness of 5mm. The desired effect should be a dashed appearance and rough texture. This will allow the basecoat to key onto it effectively. After application, the Heritage Lime Harling should be left to dry for a minimum of 3 days.
