EWI-210 EPS Adhesive is used for mounting EPS boards on substrates as part of external wall insulation systems. It is a quick drying, strong adhesive, containing reinforcing fibres for added strength and flexibility.
Our EWI-210 EPS adhesive is designed to attach the expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards to the underlying substrate – it can be applied on various types of mineral groundworks: concrete, cement-lime, ceramic, silicate, autoclaved aerated concrete, etc.
The EPS adhesive comes as a dry mix in 25kg, so needs to be mixed with clean, cold water (6.3 litres) prior to use. We suggest using a large bucket and adding the water prior to the EPS adhesive. Once the EPS adhesive has been added to the water, it needs to be mixed using a paddle mix until an even consistency mortar is produced.
Once the EPS adhesive has been mixed, leave the bucket for 5-10 minutes and then remix using the paddle mix – the adhesive is then ready for use.
Expanded polystyrene boards in the UK tend to be 0.6m x 1.2m in size. The EWI-210 EPS adhesive can either be applied to the whole surface of the EPS board using a notched trowel, or applied to the perimeter of the insulation board + 3 dabs across the middle.
Normally the notched trowel method is used when you are mounting the insulation boards on new block-work or a very flat surface. Applying the EPS adhesive to the perimeter of the board is recommended when the wall is not flat, as the bedding adhesive can absorb some of the irregularities.
