  • Cement-free lime render
  • Machine or manual application
  • Highly breathable
  • Ideal for heritage restoration projects

The Heritage Lime Render is a cement-free, breathable render intended for use as a decorative finish within a lime render system. Due to the presence of lime within the mixture, the render has unparalleled vapour permeability, which makes it perfect for renovation and restoration projects on older properties where breathability is vital to ensuring continued structural stability. Lime is also a natural resource, offering an aspect of environmental friendliness. The Heritage Lime Render is a fine grain render, therefore providing a smooth textured finish. The product should be finished with a breathable paint to protect it against weathering.

Preparation

The Heritage Lime Render comes as a dry mix in 25kg bags. The bag needs to be mixed with 5 litres of clean potable water using an electric paddle mix. It is recommended the render is mixed for 2-3 minutes to achieve the required consistency. Heritage Lime Render is then ready for use. When hardened, the product should not be re-mixed with fresh material.

Application

Before application, ensure that the substrate is clean and free of salts, dust, debris and paints. We recommend priming the substrate with the EWI-310 Universal Primer to ensure adhesion. If applying the Heritage Lime Render directly onto the Heritage Lime Basecoat, the basecoat needs to be scratched to provide a key. Alternatively, this render can be applied directly onto the Heritage Lime Harling, which is a substrate preparation coat.

The Heritage Lime Render can be applied up to a total thickness of 10-20mm. The render should be applied to the substrate using a plastering trowel or spray machine. Once the render has set, the render should be painted using the EWI-005 Silicone Paint or rendered using the EWI-075. This is to protect the surface of the render against limebloom.
