EWI-003 Silicone Paint is our ready-to-use paint, specifically designed for professional use. It is the final stage of our EWI-060 Mineral Render system. Silicone Paint creates a waterproof and highly breathable layer, resistant to environmental pollutants. It is suitable for interior and exterior surfaces and is available in 2500 different colours.

  • Frost-proof
  • Vapour permeable
  • Hydrophobic
  • Resistant to algae and plant growth

Depending on weather conditions, the product should be applied 3-7 days after the mineral render has been applied to the substrate – this will ensure proper physical and chemical bonding between the render coat and colour equalisation paint.

Technical Specifications

  • Composition: silicone resin, acrylic binding agents, mineral fillers and pigments
  • Bulk density: approx. 1.57 g/cm³
  • Diffusion resistance coefficient μ: ≤ 1000
  • Water vapour permeability: ≥ 190 g/m224h
  • Resistance to wet scrubbing: ≥ 5000 cycles

Application Conditions of Silicone Paint

  • Application temperature (air, substrate, materials): from +5°C to +25°C
  • Number of coats required: 1
  • Drying time: approx. 12 hours at +20°C
  • Quantity to be used for single coats: about 150-250 ml/m² (depending on the absorptive capacity, substrate structure and application method)

Applying Silicone Paint

Surface preparation: Substrate must be clean and dry on surface. Surfaces that will not be painted must be adequately protected.

Product preparation: Check that paint is the requested colour. Mix paint throughtly in the container. When using more than one tin of paint for the same surface, ensure that the batch numbers are matched.

Application: Apply using brushes, rollers or spray equipment. Paint in a continuous manner on one surface – do not allow any parts of the painted surface to dry out in the process to avoid visible lines. Depending on weather conditions, the product should be applied after 3-7 days, and at the latest 21 days after plastering. In case of multi-layer plaster coats, the last layer must be 7 days old. It is usually sufficient to provide a single layer. Painting works must not be carried out during rain or snow, strong winds or direct sunlight without special shields to limit exposure to weather conditions. Paint coat drying time is 2-3 hours at a temperature of +20°C and about 65% relative humidity. Subsequent paint coats can be applied after 12 hours. This period can be longer in low temperatures and high relative humidity, e.g. in autumn. If the paint is still wet, falling mist can have the same effects as drizzle and may cause water stains and colour changes. Caution! A full selection of thermal insulaiton products should be used.

Paints with intense colours (reflection coefficient Y < 20%) should not be used for large facades; the resulting temperature and UV radiation in these conditions may reduce paint coat durability and cause colour fading.

Expensive but works . Used on an extension we have just had built as builder recommended it. Goes on well and no flaking yet that you see with some external paints.
